Derribo de chimenea de hormigón /Demolition of concrete chimney

Una chimenea de 115 metros de altura construida en 1967 por Iberduero (desde 1992, Iberdrola)  será desmantelada en la central térmica Donibane de Pasaia, la más alta de Gipuzkoa. La chimenea, que en su parte más alta tiene un perímetro de cuatro metros y en la base de nueve metros y un grosor de medio metro de cemento, será uno de los últimos pasos del proceso de desmantelamiento de la central térmica, cuyos trabajos de desmontaje comenzaron a mediados de 2013.

Un robot dotado con una cizalla se ubicará en lo alto de la chimenea e irá destruyendo la estructura a un ritmo de dos o tres metros diarios. En primer lugar, la máquina irá arrancando a pedazos el cilindro interior, de ladrillo refractario, cuyos escombros se irán depositando en el interior del tubo. Posteriormente, también de forma descendente, irá destruyendo el envoltorio exterior, de hormigón. Se ha fijado un radio de seguridad de 25 metros alrededor del tubo. Ya se han colocado las grúas que alzarán el robot que realizará el trabajo de ir retirando toda la estructura cilíndrica.

A chimney of 115 meters high built in 1967 will be dismantled at  Pasaia, the highest in Gipuzkoa. The smokestack, which in its upper part has a perimeter of four meter, on the basis of nine meters and a thickness of half meter of cement, will be one of the last steps in the process of dismantling the power plant, whose dismantling work began in mid-2013.

A robot equipped with a shear will be located on top of the chimney and go destroying the structure at a rate of two to three meters a day. First, the machine will tear apart the inner cylinder, refractory brick, which will be depositing debris in the tube. Later, also in descending order, it will destroy the outer wrapping of concrete.  It has been set up within 25 meters of the tube. Cranes that will boost the robot performing the work to phase out the whole cylindrical structure have already been placed .

Esa ayuda no llega / Never arriving help

Como ya se anunció en el post del 8 de enero de este mismo año, la chimenea de la Central de Villablino de 50 metros de altura sigue teniendo problemas y en tan sólo tres meses ha perdido una parte importante en su tramo superior. Así lo ha anunciado el Club Xeitu, ante la impasividad de las autoridades. Si no se toman medidas, nos quedaremos de nuevo ante un desagravio al Patrimonio Industrial del humo.

Already announced in January the 8th, the Villablino´s powerstation chimney, in the province of Leon, is in danger. In only three months a part of it has felt down. Xeitu Club claims for help, though there is no response from the Administration.

Un paseo en bicicleta /Cycling

Hoy quiero traer aquí un post cualquiera de los muchos que están proliferando al igual que un gran deporte como es el ciclismo, que permite a la vez practicar ejercicio y contemplar paisajes que, de otra manera sería imposible.

El blog pertenece a Los Tropezones de Huelva, y recorren la localidad de Corrales, en esa provincia. Allí enuentran esta central térmica con su chimenea de la cual escriben lo siguiente:

Central Termica Corrales
Es un impresionante edificio industrial, de tipología de la segunda mitad del S. XIX, en el que, en la actualidad, se conserva la estructura y la majestuosa chimenea, habiendo perdido todo su mobiliario. Esta central térmica disponía de dos turbinas de vapor producido por carbón (resto del cual todavía se observan en las tolvas del interior del edificio) que generaban la suficiente electricidad para suministrarla a todas las instalaciones mineras del núcleo, así como a todas sus viviendas, incluso algunos años antes que la cercana capital de la provincia dispusiera de ella.
El Ayuntamiento de Aljaraque dispone de un proyecto de restauración de dicha edificación.

Today I bring here a post, one of the many that are proliferating like a great sport such as cycling, allowing both exercising and see landscapes that would otherwise be impossible.

The blog belongs to Los Tropezones of Huelva, and tour the village of Corrales, in that province. This power station with its Chimney is found on the way  and written about it:

Corrales Power Station
It is an impressive industrial building typology of the second half of S. XIX, in which, the present structure is retained and the majestic chimney, having lost its furniture. This power station provided two steam turbines produced by coal (rest of which is still observed in the bins inside the building) that generated enough electricity for supply to all core mining facilities, as well as all their houses, even some years before the nearby provincial capital took it.
Aljaraque City Council has a restoration project of this building.

Otra chimenea más que pide ayuda/ Help for another chimney

Una chimenea de 50 metros de altura, realizada en ladrillo y con cimentación de mampostería viene deteriorándose en los últimos años con la aparición de grietas, el desprendimiento de ladrillos y la pérdida de algunos elementos estéticos significativos. El Club Xeitu reclama medidas urgentes de salvaguarda para la antigua central térmica de Villablino.
Esta chimenea constituye un ejemplo de arquitectura industrial de época y es prácticamente idéntica a la de la antigua central térmica de Ponferrada. La similitud entre ambas se debe a que la antigua térmica de Villablino fue inaugurada en 1931 por la Minero Siderúrgica de Ponferrada, aprovechándose en su construcción parte del material sobrante de la ampliación de la de Ponferrada. Su energía fue destinada fundamentalmente a las explotaciones mineras.

A 50 meter high brick masonry chimney is having problems of aesthetic elements falls, cracking and so on. The Xeitu club claims for urgent reparations in the old power station of Villablino (León). The chimney has similarities with the one in Ponferrada for the Minero Metalurgica, as the former was built with the surplus material of the latter.
